2 years to flatten the curve
Exactly 2 years ago, on December 31st, 2019, a pneumonia outbreak in the city of Wuhan was publicly reported.
The conspiracy theory is that this date was chosen deliberately and symbolically:
Last day of the year
Last day of the decade (yeah, I know, it depends on how you count, but still)
In a way, last day of the Old Normal
Since then we had:
Two weeks to flatten the curve
Racist and xenophobic travel bans
Toilet paper shortage
Media meltdown
Operation Warp speed
Save Grandma
Do you want to save the economy or do you want to save lives?
Masks don’t work
Wear a mask
Wear two masks
Back to one mask
N95 masks
Mask or vaxx
Mask and vaxx
Mask, vaxx and booster
Cloth masks don’t work
Karen
Back to normal (still waiting for that)
New Normal
Safe and Effective™
2 doses will protect you from infection
3 doses still don’t prevent infection or transmission, but may reduce symptoms, but maybe only for 3 months after the 3rd dose, but we’re not sure about that either
Just take the damn shot
“Screw your freedom” (former governor of California)
No vaxx pass
Vaxx pass
Pandemic of The Unvaxxinated™
More travel bans, but this time neither racist nor xenophobic
Pandemic of The Vaxxinated
More media meltdowns
And finally:
We have learned the Greek alphabet.
I could go on, but that’s all for now.
Happy New Year everyone!
