The USGS has turned off access to their public streaming feeds , whether it be for maintenance, or by accident — this is a time of heightened earthquake activity … a time where NO feeds should be shut off without a backup feed running.
Peoples lives are at stake, and this service is paid for with our tax dollars — thus it should be up and running 24/7/365. If the USGS feed service craps out.. there needs to be a flawless backup which kicks in — many peoples phone apps depend on these feeds.
We’re talking earthquake feeds, not the news ticker on CNN.
In the meantime, we now see that a new swarm of earthquake has broken out near Volcano Peak in Southern California.
________
This new swarm of volcanic earthquakes follows two previous events which struck Volcano peak California over the past 24 hours. Two different magnitude 3.4 earthquakes struck on the flanks of Volcano peak last night, and this morning (June 2, 2015).
Seeing multiple earthquakes, plus a new swarm develop at this dormant volcano is a sign of still building pressure along the West coast.
This means the probability of another round of events in the Northwest (California / Oregon) over the next few days is increasing. Dormant volcano movement in California = larger earthquake activity along the NW Coast.
