brandy curry: In my experience as a family member to a few hard core addicts, I can honestly report that the person you get back once they have overcome addiction is not the same person you had before. Their cognitive abilities are diminished and they have a very difficlut time processing their own emotions. If you think getting them off drugs is the end of it all, just know the shit has yet to hit the fan. You will be spending a large portion of your time and energy walking on egg shells and basically living your life to serve them. I have seen this happen to my mother for decades now and I feel badly for her bc she doesnt do drugs or drink and yet is dealing with the aftermath of other peoples addictions. It might be mean but I refuse to deal with them bc I have my own family now and they are the priority.
