The Durban University of Technology’s Student Representative Council issued a statement referring to Israel as an “apartheid state.” This is the antisemitic poison that is found on university campuses all over the world these days. And even though this effort failed, there will certainly be more attempts to bar Jews from university campuses.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) – A student group from Durban University of Technology (DUT) called for all Jews to be expelled from the school, because of their potential stance on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
In response, Vice Chancellor and Principal Ahmed Bawa called the “outrageous” demand “a deep violation of… every human rights principle.”
“One of the demands on the memorandum was deregistration of Jewish students at DUT, to which my response was that this was outrageous, preposterous and a deep violation of our National Constitution and every human rights principle.
“No student at DUT will be discriminate [sic] against on the basis of religion, race, gender, political affiliation or sexual orientation.”…
Immediately, a secretary with the student council, Mqondisi Duma, fired back. Stating that the decision to demand that Jews leave the university was the result of analysis of “international politics. We took the decision that Jewish students, especially those who do not support the Palestinian struggle, should deregister.”…
The Student Representative Council released an apology letter, which was not, in fact, very apologetic.
