Chinese state media just boasted that ‘every corner’ of Beijing is under CCTV
The Chinese state media have announced that they have covered “every corner of the capital with a video surveillance system”.
The Beijing Public Security Bureau disclosed to the China People’s Daily that the new system is part of a move to tighten security in the capital, particularly in crowds.
The closed circuit television system, dubbed “sky net”, has been continuously upgraded since 2012, with 29 per cent more cameras operational in the capital this year, compared to last.
According to the bureau, who posted the information on Weibo, officers detained 5 per cent more suspects this year than last year
