Recovery work is underway after devastating floods ripped through homes and destroyed railway tracks in the secretive country’s northern Hamgyong Province.
The state-run television channel KRT aired video and said the worst “climatic phenomenon” in more than 70 years has hit the northern part of the country causing “huge losses”.
News of the natural disaster came as North Korea looked even more isolated from its neighbours and the wider world after its fifth nuclear test on September 9.
