Following controversy last month about Samsung transmitting spoken words to a third party, Appleās terms of service clearly state that the company is following a similar process by recording and transmitting the voice data of Siri users.
In November last year we reported on how Samsungās global privacy policy advised users of their Smart TV range that āpersonal or other sensitive informationā in the form of spoken words was being captured and transmitted to a third party.
The controversy only blew up three months later when Samsung was forced to admit that voice data was being āsent to a serverā operated by a third party during the process..
FallenMyst, a Reddit user claimed to had recently started a new job with a company called Walk Nā Talk Technologies, where job profile requires her to listen voice data collected from Apple, Microsoft users and check for incorrect interpretations.
āI get to listen to sound bites [sic] and rate how the text matches up with what is said in an audio clip and give feedback on what should be improved.ā Fallenmyst wrote. “Guys, I’m telling you, if you’ve said it to your phone, it’s been recordedā¦and there’s a damn good chance a 3rd party is going to hear it,“
“I heard everything from kiddos asking innocent things like ‘Siri, do you like me?’ to some guy asking Galaxy to lick his butthole. I wish I was kidding“, she disclosed.
