Brazil’s new President, Jair Bolsonaro, said in his inaugural speech that he wants “liberation from socialism, inverted values and political correctness”.
Among other things he said:
“Serving the country as chief of the Executive, and this is only possible because God has preserved my life, and you have believed in me. Together we have the means to make Brazil take the leading role it deserves in the world and bring peace and prosperity to our people.
“It is with humility and honor that I address all of you, as President of Brazil. And I stand before the entire nation on this day as the day the people began to free themselves from socialism.”
And:
“We have a unique opportunity before us to reconstruct our country and rescue the hope of our compatriots.
“We are going to unite the people, rescue the family, respect religions and our Judeo-Christian tradition, combat gender ideology, conserving our values.”
