First responders were on āemergency standbyā waiting for a bomb squad at Kelowna International Airport Saturday afternoon.
The airport received a call threatening a specific airplane that had arrived at the airport from Edmonton and departed for its next destination. The plane was forced to land again and as of 2 p.m. was waiting on the tarmac for a bomb squad to search it.
Airport spokeswoman Jenelle Haynes told CTV News the passengers would be unloaded from the plane and transferred by bus to the terminal for screening.
Whoever called had the wrong information about the flight, Haynes said, and it took airport staff some time to figure out what exactly had been threatened.
