The following NGO is advising / lobbying the government on matters of elections, and government policy. The sole purpose is to get black persons elected to public office.
Their claims are that there is no other mandate or platform, just a non partisan agenda to elect into public office Black people. It is really not any more complicated than that with OBVC, currently Velma Morgan is acting as Chair.

I have to admit this is one of my nagging thoughts about OBVC, such as how do you go about proving your blackness? Part of what they do is reach out and operate in a diverse community/s, where they then target blacks only.
I suspect it is done via what they call one of their “initiatives” “Dinner + Politics”
https://obvc.ca/dinner-and-politics/
https://obvc.ca/our-initiatives/
A look at who they are according the website:
Operation Black Vote Canada (OBVC)
Who we are
“Operation Black Vote Canada (OBVC) was established in 2004 as a nonprofit and multi-partisan organization that supports the election of Black people to public office.”“OBVC does not endorse candidates, nor do we advocate for one political party over another, instead we assist emerging Black professionals interested in a political career.”
“OBVC Monitors issues that interests and concerns the Black Canadian community and play a leading role in recommending solutions to the community and the government.”

One could readily think that this a valuable and Noble endeavor. I can well imagine that some of the messages and exposure to OBVC initiatives would be to a young black youth. a source of inspiration and encouragement to think about and actually take on the life of a public servant in public office. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
As Noble as OBVC Endeavors may be, one has to always wonder or choose or don’t question where is the money coming from? How does OBVC support or fund themselves?
Perhaps at some point in the future after the 43rd Canadian General election we will follow up with them with some questions and requests for comment. Perhaps they have some data and insight on 2019’s election they can share with us @ Breaking-News.ca
As Canada’s ethnic population becomes more and more Diversified as they say, OBVC may very well quickly become a relic, until such time we think this is something Canadians should know about and watch. This is the future of civil service and Political Leadership in Canada.
OBVC is but one of many ethnocentric NGO’s operating in Canada and or in conjunction with “extra jurisdictional” powers and their brokers, and of course elaborate funding partnerships that have pushed a clear minority only, or inclusion / exclusion message during Canada’s 2019 Federal elections.
I think most Canadians can agree we deserve to have qualified dedicated representatives and public servants and office holders, we hope that OBVC is a genuine source of such Canadian Leadership, partisan free.
Questions:
– Do you support OBVC’s Mandate?
– How do you think they are doing?
– Do you have links to other such NGO’s / Orgs that relate to OBVC?
– Are Ethnocentric political lobbyists in Canada acting responsibly and within the Canadian Charter with their exclusionary policies?
– ~Q~’s of your own?
