Known as Ademo Freeman on Facebook, Co-founder of Cop Block arrived in Cleveland at the Republican Nation Convention on Monday. It took all but one hour for police to find a reason to detain him.
Freeman, arrived in Cleveland on Monday ready to document the protest of the RNC and any police abuse.
Officers had a huge barricade of cement set up to block areas off. Freeman, is known for his chalking around police stations all over the country. He noticed there were five cement blocks set up, just the right amount for āBadges Donāt Grant Extra Rights.ā So, he decided to start chalking the cement blocks.
He only got to the letter āBā on badges before being approached by officers. Cleveland PD choose to detain him and took him to the back of the police car.
This video was taken by activist from Nevada Cop BlockĀ as Ademo was taken away and placed in the car.
Officers did not handcuff him or take his cell phone. He managed to captureĀ this amazing videoĀ from the back of the squad car. This could be the first ever live stream from the back of a police car.
Officers had him detained in the police cruiser for around 30 minutes for chalking on the cement. He was questioned, had his rights violated, and time wasted for chalk. Youād think with all the things going on around the RNC someone with chalk would not be a threat.
I contacted Freeman for comments. He said. āWelcome to Cleveland, Fuck the police.ā
In the video of Freeman in the back of the police car, you can hear him telling officers that he did not consent to search or seizure of his travelĀ bag. You can hearĀ Freeman clearly say it a few times. āI donāt consent to search or seizure.ā
Clearly, the police did not care, in fact, you can hear an officer in a white coatĀ tell Freeman that he was in the āevent zoneā and that his rights did not matter.
Freeman, politely asks where the event zone boundaries were and the Chief told him a certain area of streets thatĀ is about aĀ 1 mile area surrounding the event.
I asked Freemanās opinion on that. He said. āThe first cop wouldnāt search it and the white shirt said he didnāt care, Iām in the event zone.ā
When our police and lawmakers start taking our rights in the name of event zones or becauseĀ elected officialsĀ are around, thatās when you know things are not right. Take a look at HR 347, it was passed several years ago, restricting free speech, creating bubbles around lawmakers and others.
Freeman, did get let go and is now going live from time to time on his Facebook page. Go to hispage for more updates.
