Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino is a… liar.
That’s right, I said it!
Mr. Mendicino has repeatedly claimed that multiple police agencies requested the feds invoke the Emergencies Act to dismantle the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa back in February.
But over the past few weeks, we have learned that Mr. Mendicino wasn’t being entirely honest about those claims.
Recently, law enforcement agencies ranging from the RCMP to the Ottawa Police Service have repeatedly stated that they never asked for the invocation of the Act.
This raises the question: who requested the use of these extraordinary powers on peaceful protesters?
Shortly after Mendicino’s lies came to light, his deputy minister went into spin control, claiming this was just a misunderstanding.
We don’t think that’s a good enough excuse, so we launched a petition to FIRE Marco Mendicino.

Sure, we’re used to politicians walking around with their pants on fire, but much like the use of the Emergencies Act, his deceit is unprecedented.
