Gary Wright The Writer & Performer of Dream Weaver has passed on. R.I.P.

♥ ♫ ♪ Gary Wright: Dream Weaver, Album/Studio Version HQ ♥ ♫ ♪ - YouTube

A classic. Gary was a pioneer in using synth keyboards and created this sonic symphony using electronica. Many would adopt the use of KORG and other such synths to craft such lasting and memorable classics.

My thanks to Gary for the music he shared. When this would come on the radio when I was a kid it moved me and touched a sorrow in my heart where I felt and identified with not just the beauty of the composition but the lyrics as well. My parents had divorced and at times all I has was God and music to comfort me. This was one of the songs.

Thank you Gary from a kid in Northern Alberta who you touched with your music!

The Dream Weaver - Wikipedia

I’ve just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the dream weaver train
Driver take away my worries of today
And leave tomorrow behind

Ooh, dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooh, dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light

Fly me high through the starry skies
Maybe to an astral plane
Cross the highways of fantasy
Help me to forget today’s pain

Ooh, dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooh, dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light

Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time
Fly me away to the bright side of the moon
Meet me on the other side

Ooh, dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night

Ooh, dream weaver
I believe we can reach the morning light

Gary Wright, ‘Dream Weaver’ and ‘Love Is Alive’ Singer, Dies Aged 80

Musician Gary Wright passed away during the morning hours of the fourth of September, as confirmed by his son Justin.

The singer spent his last years fighting Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia, which had been rapidly progressing over the last few months. While the disease took its toll on Wright’s body, he did not have to fight alone, having the constant support of his family and friends.

Gary Wright will be remembered as a monumental figure in rock history. First starting out as a student of medicine and then psychology who merely dabbled in music as a hobby, Wright quickly rose to international fame after the release of “The Dream Weaver” record in 1975 and was one of the first musicians to extensively use the synthesizer in his work.

After a few years of touring, writing, and collaborating with names such as George Harrison, Wright turned his focus and attention towards film soundtrack work, famously re-recording the song “Dream Weaver” for the 1992 comedy “Wayne’s World”.

Among the many now sharing their sorrow for Wright’s passing, the words of singer-songwriter and close friend Stephen Bishop stand out:

“Gary’s vibrant personality and exceptional talent made every moment together truly enjoyable. His legacy will live on for many years to come. I will always cherish the warmth and kindness shown to me by Gary and his wife Rose, and I will forever hold dear the stories he shared with me about days gone by.” https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/gary_wright_dream_weaver_and_love_is_alive_singer_dies_aged_80.html
