Mystery of Navy Admiral’s ‘suicide’ death deepens: No details are released on how or when decorated veteran, 58, died as remarks he made three months ago criticizing Iran are revealed

  • Scott Stearney, 58, was found dead in his ‘residence’ in Bahrain on Saturday 
  • The decorated Navy admiral was in charge of the Fifth Fleet in the Middle East
  • He assumed the role in May, taking charge of 20,000 troops in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and Arabian Sea  
  • In September, he spoke optimistically about operations and exercises in the region 
  • He also criticized Iran for ‘destabilizing’ the fragile region 
  • The Navy will not say how he died or how he was found but that no foul play is suspected 
  • The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is still investigating his death along with the Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior 
  • Stearney served in the Navy for 36 years and served in Afghanistan
