New $200 Shock Bracelet Zaps Away Bad Habits

By Melissa Dykes

We are not only becoming techno zombies in this society, but now, people are lining up willingly to pay $200 to get their own shock collar bracelet that will help them ā€œretrainā€ their behaviors with a few (hundred) painful zap treatments (oh, and mild vibrations). Itā€™s even actually called the The Pavlok, named after you guessed it, Ivan Pavlov, theĀ Russian physiologist who came up with Pavlovian conditioning.

The aversion (shock) will program a person to avoid whatever bad habit they are being trained against, and the company claims it works in five days or less to ā€œdelete temptationā€ by associating a zap with a personā€™s bad habit, training their brain to dislike said habit. No, they donā€™t know what the long-term effects to wearing the Pavlok are, but the local news station below calls it ā€œ340 Volts of Wearable Willpowerā€.

Can you imagine what would happen if parents start putting these on their children? Would CPS step in?

By the way, the TSA has already discussed putting taser bracelets on passengers, you know, because terrorism.

Oh, and the Pavlok can be programmed to be triggered by sensors, apps, manuallyā€¦ and via remote control.

Apparently it ā€œhurts like a b*tchā€Ā ā€” with shocks from 50 volts up to 450 (getting stung by a giant bee).
