The Deputy crown prince of Saudi Arabia gave the interview broadcast on multiple state TV channels. Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud is the defense minister in charge of the conflict in Yemen. In the interview he says there is no chance of talks with Iran who he accuses of aiding proxies in Syria and Yemen. He said Iran has an extremist ideology and wants to control the Islamic world. In addition, he said Iran was paving the way for a Shia end times ‘Mahdi’.
Also, in a shocking statement the prince said that Iran’s next target is Saudi Arabia. He is quoted as saying “we will not wait until there becomes a battle in Saudi Arabia. So we will work so that the battle is is Iran”
An all out direct conflict between Saudi and Iran could lead to financial collapse in major parts of the world. The price of oil could become too high for many economies. Also other regional players such as Turkey, Pakistan and India could become tangled in this war.
