Around 17,000 people took to the streets of Vienna on Saturday, to protest against the right-wing coalition government of Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.

Protesters waved signs and banners with anti-racist and anti-fascist slogans as they marched through the city, watched by over 500 police officers.

The protest, which was organised with the support of the Austrian Social Democratic Party (SPO) and the Greens (GRUNE), was timed to fall on the anniversary of the formation of the ruling coalition by Kurz’s Austrian People’s Party (OVP) and the far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPO).
