A teacher has caused a stir after sharing a video of her new ‘prison-like’ classroom fitted with barriers to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
South Carolina elementary teacher Teresa Holmes quite reasonably pointed out the barriers make it difficult for students to see the whiteboard from their plexiglass pens, and also wonders how she’s supposed to clean the screens between classes.

The school district responded by calling on Holmes to delete the video and not to ‘make it look like something negative.’
The plexiglass barriers have been installed at the school in the district for $5 million, as part of an effort to safely reopen classrooms.
While the measures may look safe in practice, some medical experts have criticized their effectiveness, calling it a ‘placebo’ instead of a scientifically proven way of preventing the spread of COVID-19, the Charleston Post and Courier newspaper reported.
