January 30, 2020 at 12:23 GMT -08:00 · Published The World Health Organisation WHO declared a global health emergency in Geneva on Thursday, due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China and its spread around the world.
“I am declaring a public health emergency of international concern over the novel outbreak of coronavirus, the main reason of this declaration is not because of what is happening in China but because of what is happening in other countries our greatest concern in the potential for the virus to spread to countries with weaker health systems and which are ill prepared to deal with it,”
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus Director-General of the World Health Organization said.
