Justin Trudeau’s stunning statement to the House of Commons isn’t the first time a Trudeau has poked India. Trudeau has done precious little about either tackling Khalistani supporters or gangsters operating from Canadian soil, in spite of a number of requests from New Delhi. This is not the first time that a ‘Trudeau’ has betrayed India. In 1982, India-Canada ties took a severe beating when Justin Trudeau’s father Pierre Trudeau was the PM. Then, Indian PM Indira Gandhi had sought the extradition of Talwinder Singh Parmar, who had fled India after killing two policemen in Punjab. He was the head of Babbar Khalsa International, that would go on to be the mastermind behind the worst air tragedy before 9-11 – the Kanishka bombing of an Air India flight in 1985.
