āThe US missile strike on Syria āonly facilitated the strengthening of terrorism,ā Russiaās representative at the UN Security Council has said, adding that it shows how Washington is afraid of a real investigationā into an alleged chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, Syria that took place on Wednesday.
āThe American strike was aimed at those fighting against terrorism in Syriaā, said Vladimir Safronkov, Russian deputy acting envoy to the UN, during a UN meeting on Friday. He added that āWashingtonās attack on a Syrian airfield in the early hours of Friday morning was an illegitimate act of aggression on a sovereign country and will only encourage the terrorists to commit more actsā.
āPreviously, Washington had justified the presence of its troops in Syria with joint efforts in fighting international terrorismā, Safronkov said, adding that the recent attack āhad proven otherwiseā.
Not long after the US strike, the terrorists began to prepare for an assault in a direction of Palmyra.
