India-China border tensions | Troops are no longer bound to not using firearms The Indian Army has made a significant change in Rules of Engagement (ROE) after the Galway Valley skirmish that left 20 Indian soldiers dead.

It has now given ā€œcomplete freedom of actionā€ to commanders deployed along the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC) to ā€œhandle situations at the tactical level.ā€
