SpaceX released footage today of one of its rockets crash-landing on a barge.
The crash occurredĀ last week when its Falcon 9 came in at a 45-degree angle and smashed its legs and engine section, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said.
The landing was attemptedĀ in order to be able to preserve the craft for future missions. Being able to recycle rockets is something Musk said will ārevolutionize access to space.ā
āIf one can figure out how to effectively reuse rockets just like airplanes, the cost of access to space will be reduced by as much as a factor of a hundred,ā he said.
The rocketĀ was not manned.
